Before AquaSafaris:
Starting the history of AquaSafaris, John and Carole Borden met in college where they both earned their Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Carole worked in Radio and Television, while John went sailing. He ran everything from Yawls to Brigs, and was based everywhere from the Florida Keys to Australia.
The Early Days Chartering & AquaSafaris:
Carole and John later married and purchased their first charter sailing yacht. They successfully operated her for 5 years in the Eastern Caribbean. The final foundation for the history of AquaSafaris began with them ultimately returning to the Carolinas, starting a family and their Charleston based charter company, AquaSafaris, Inc.
The Borden’s possess an unparalleled knowledge of the charter industry as charter yacht owners, operators, managers, agents, and builders. They travel regularly to the Caribbean and Mediterranean to inspect a growing number of quality sail, power and fishing vessels for their clients. Carole was even elected by her peers to serve on the board of the international Charter Yacht Brokers Association (CYBA).
Both John and Carole will tell you that there is no better accolade than being able to make a living by doing what you love most, and sharing it with others!

As owners and operators, we continue our active role in daily operations. At the heart of AquaSafaris is our desire to share the world with others. Your personal journey can be an afternoon charter in Charleston, an island-hopping odyssey through the Caribbean, or an exploration of exotic ports in the Mediterranean or Greek Isles.
We work with professional Captains guaranteed to have proper certification – including Coast Guard certification for those operating in US waters. Captains and crews are not only skilled, but they also enjoy what they do! Likewise, our office staff has extensive experience in the hospitality and resort industries, and is always ready for you.
